Optimistic Nihilism

We spontaneously gained consciousness on a rock traveling about 67,000 mph around a giant ball of gas. What I just described is an oversimplification of the beginning of human existence, according to science. The universe predates us; we have a basic understanding of how it works. There's no telling if we'll comprehend it, or even if we are capable of understanding every single aspect of it. For all, we know the universe wouldn't even care if we're gone; It may not even care about us now. It will continue to go on until the end of time.
Now it may seem like I'm saying that our existence is meaningless, and we serve no purpose but that not the full picture. Though I do think life itself has no meaning, that does not mean it can't be assigned some meaning. Let me explain what I mean; there is a philosophy known as Nihilism. Nihilism is the belief that all values and beliefs are baseless, and nothing can be known or communicated. (source) Someone who is a true Nihilist has an impulse to destroy. The reason this is the case is that they don't believe in anything, they have no loyalties, no purpose; This is one kind of nihilist. A different type of Nihilism referred to as optimistic nihilism.
Optimistic nihilism is acknowledging that's life lacks meaning, and while that may seem like a depressing idea, it can be liberating. What I mean is you are free to do whatever you want to do because there is one set way to live the phrase "living life" that can be whatever you want it to mean.
